The speciality of the Paithani border
A fabric once made from cotton and silk has now become purely a silk and gold thread adorned one. The opulence and golden coloured thread work finery on patch borders that seem like a golden carpet for their fine and close weaving have therefore also come to be known as Paithani work patch borders. There are salwar kameez with such rich Paithani work borders that their appeal is elevated tremendously. Warp threads are only of zari forming a golden ground upon which angular, brightly coloured silk designs are woven in the interlocked weft, producing a tapestry effect.
