One of the main monuments of Lucknow and the smaller version of Bara imambara it is a symbol of nawabi culture and heritage for which Lucknow is famous about. It is a shia shrine adjacent to the Bara Imambara. It is restricted to one hall but is worth seeing for the architecture. A gilded white dome and several turrets and minarets, the tombs of Muhammad Ali Shah and other members of his family are inside the Imambara itself. The Naubatkhana is small, but lovely in white and gold. On the left of the courtyard is a lovely Hamam, and a jewel-like Jawab opposite the grave of princess Zeenat. The mosque across the courtyard is also lovely, and the Imambara painted white with a golden cupola looks lovely. Inside is an explosion of colour due to a huge overabundance of imported Belgian chandeliers.
