Sozhaiyaar Dam

The Sozhaiyar Dam lying on the cliff of Valparai, in Pollachi Taluk, Coimbatore district is still unspoilt and beautiful with tranquility. You can enjoy the sight of so many small "water falls" in the virgin forest. The beauty of the place lies in its thick flora and fauna, lion tailed monkeys, different birds. It is good to visit in July-August during which the rain pours continuously and the climate is good. Engulfed by hills on both sides, the reservoir snakes for more than 15 kms from the dam and is a treat to the eyes.

Sri Kari Varadaraja Perumal Temple

A very small temple of Lord Vishnu is located on the main road. The main lord with his consort Maha lakshmi was decorated very nicely on the new year day. Small but welll maintained worth a visit.

Forest College Museum

Gass forest museum is at located at Cowley Brown Road. It is one of the oldest buildings in Coimbatore and is over 100 years old, in a way the museum building itself is like a heritage site. Museum is within Forest college campus grounds and it feels like a mini forest within the city. Apart from wildlife the exhibits include Arms used in olden days, wood crafts, huge collection of insects, cultural artifacts and many more. What really attracts visitors is the preserved and stuffed animals, birds and reptiles. When you enter the museum, a lifelike stuffed Wild Gaur (bison) welcomes you with a Sloth bear and deer next to it. Stuffed Leopard, peacock, brahmini kite and other stuffed birds, Preserved baby elephant and elephant fetus, elephant skeletons are great attractions, especially for kids. And for those who are keen about insects or timber this place would be a treat.

Thoonakkadavu Lake

Thoonakkadavu Lake is on the way to Parambikulam. It’s a beautiful dam site. There are a few tree huts on the dam site, which gives a real wild experience. If one books a hut, one can see lots of wild animals from here. The famous Kannimara peak is a few km away from Thunakadavu.

Vaidehi Waterfalls

This waterfall is located near Narasipuram village near Thondamuthur, Coimbatore. Ot is about an hour’s drive from Coimbatore to Narasipuram. From Narasipuram one has to walk a couple of Kms to reach the Vaidehi falls. This Waterfall is named after the evergreen Tamil movie 'Vaidehi Kaathirundhal'. This falls was pictured in that movie.
