Jagannath Puri – a visual treat
Jagannath Temple

This is the main attraction of Puri. Whoever lands at Puri, visits this temple at least once. This temple is famous for Lord Jagannath, Balaram & Subhadra. You will have a spiritual feel once you enter the temple. The Jagannath Temple, is located on the eastern coast of India, at Puri in Odisha. The temple is an important pilgrimage destination for many Hindu traditions, particularly worshippers of Krishna and Vishnu. The annual Rath Yatra is also associated with this temple, when lakhs of devotees descend upon Puri to get the Lord’s blessings.

Konark Beach

Konark Beach, is considered to be one of India's finest beaches. The Ramchandi Temple is situated about 10 km along this beach, as does the sun temple that also stands on this beach. This is a place of religious importance to Hindus. Near Ramachandi there is a beach that is good and less crowded. Water sport is available here. Besides the water scooter and a small boat ride for family, you also have scuba diving, snorkelling, wind surfing etc.

Puri Beach

Puri Beach is a beach in the city of Puri. It is on the shore of the Bay of Bengal. The beach is a place where you can spend hours in the evening relaxing and hours in the morning bathing. However in the recent years it had become a bit too crowded. The beach is the site of the annual Puri Beach Festival, which is co-sponsored by the Indian Ministry of Tourism, the city of Odisha, the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts, and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Kolkata. The beach hosts sand art displays, including work by international award winning local sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik

Raghurajpur Artist Village

Raghurajpur village is situated 10 Kms from Puri. The village is a kind of shopping complex with 15-20 houses storing paintings, crafts etc. They showcase the Odisha culture and one gets mesmerized with the handicrafts. A unique place, the whole village seems like an art gallery. All the villagers have art objects like paintings and handicrafts for sale in their homes. Pata chitra is famous over here. There are several forms of art like Patachitra (fine paintings created on old pieces of cloth which are pasted together with natural adhesive), wood carvings, metal works, tassar painting, painting done by rice powder, etc. You may also find excellent artwork on dried beetel nut or dried coconut shell to tussar paintings or patachitra. This was the birth place of Odissi Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.

Chilika Lake

Chilika, a peaceful place known for some amazing views of dolphins and varied species of birds. It is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the second largest lagoon in the world. It is the largest winter ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent. The lake is home to a number of threatened species of plants and animals. The lake is an ecosystem with large fishery resources. It sustains more than 150,000 fisher folk living in 132 villages on the shore and islands.
