Kohoj is located about 104 km from Mumbai off the Mumbai - Ahmedabad Highway. Upon reaching Manor you have to take a right turn under a newly built flyover and take the Manor - Wada road. One can also take a state transport bus from Palghar. The entry to the base camp is a bit confusing and one may have to take the help of locals. The trek from base camp is a medium level one so beginners can safely avoid it unless you have good endurance level. The place has a lot of natural beauty and sights. Kohoj fort is at 3200 ft.

One of the biggest forts around Mumbai it is at Vasai. Built by the Portugese it is surrounded by sea on three sides. One can get down at Vasai station and take an auto. remnants of a church can be found there.

Hanuman Mandir is located in the Vasant Vihar area of Thane and is a peaceful place. Other deities beside Lord Hanuman are also worshiped here. a family of devoted faithful have traditionally maintained and nurtured this place. A lot of pujas are conducted here. Occasionally, a garland of Wadas also adorns the Lord - an offering made especially upon a devotee getting his wish fulfilled.

This place is in Jawhar, very close to Thane. One can get an excellent bird’s eye view of the Jaysagar dam from here. There is nothing much to see here except for the fantastic view of all places around. The view is attached with historical significance as a sort of vantage point.

Sunset Point is a resort on Nh8 close to Jawhar. It is a specially constructed place where one can from a certain point catch a spectacular view of the sunset with the whole green valley in front. Akin to a mini-Mahabaleshwar. In the monsoon the whole area is lush green and an eyeful. The resort has all amenities like suites, Indian and Chinese cuisine, a Bar, swimming pool, garden, and good hospitality. Nearby one can go to see the Dabhosa waterfall.
