Exploring the new range

There are Tussar silk sarees with direct imagery, where the images of women in different situations are hand painted, like a village belle in the water, a dancing girl, a754d0764f29d5e941cf8a3862825e18women drawing water from a well, showing the different activities that a woman in a rural setting would engage in. There is the implying imagery where the serene expression of the Buddha has been likened to the soft and delicate expression that most women carry. There are the modern art spreads also but with the image of the woman depicting that the art is about the moods and nuances that a woman generally harbours, and the colors have been chosen likewise. There are variations that follow but the central theme being women.

Tussar silks are contour hugging sarees with a glaze or shine that catches the attention of onlookers. Hand painting becomes fairly easy and convenient given that the sarees do not have conventional borders. Also the adhesion quality and therefore the fastness of the colors is a wonderful asset. These are the qualities that make Tussar silk sarees the favourite of many a woman.

The making of Tussar silks

Tussar silks are made from silk obtained from several species of caterpillars, of the moth genus Antheraea. Known as ‘wild silk’, a name given because the silkworms breed on trees like Sal and Arjun found in the forests of Jharkhand. Also known as ‘Kosa’ Silk, the raw silk has a deep golden colour and is of good texture. Hand spun and coloured with vegetable or eco-friendly synthetic dyes, the Tussar sarees they produce are good for the skin. The woven Tussar Silk Saree has a lovely texture, is light on the body, airy and has a comfortable feel about it. Hand-woven Tussar Silk Saris are well known for their zari borders, motifs and the hand crafted designs that enrich them.

The Hand Painted Sarees of Unnati Silks are a visual treat, an expression of elegance and allure that a woman embodies but needs an outlet to bring forth.  Be it simple imagery or complex modern art, motif magic or subtle themes, the saree has always been the Indian woman’s greatest strength and show of confidence, her inner being radiating outwards, her allure gets heightened.
