• Other noteworthy sights of similar nature include Science City, the Jorasanko Thakur Bari or ancestral home of Rabindranath Tagore that was converted into a museum in 1961, the Gurusaday Museum on Diamond Harbour Road, the Nehru Children’s Museum that has a wonderful collection of dolls and toys from across the world, Sabarna Sangrahashala, a public Library at Baro Bari, the National Library of India at Alipore and many others.

• Many public buildings that can be marveled at for the sheer architectural splendor are the Calcutta High Court, Raj Bhavan, The Town Hall in Roman-Doric style, Writers’ Building (secretariat of the west Bengal Govt.), the General Post office, the Esplanade Mansions, the South Eastern Railway Headquarters, the Howrah station etc. Besides there are very many historic hotels, wonderful parks and other structures that would be even a layman visitor’s delight.

• Rabindra Sarobar, the artificial lake and urban park, the Rowing clubs, the Salt Lake Central Park, The Indian Botanical garden, the Alipore are Zoological Gardens are visual treats and places of enjoyment.

• This apart there are very many other historical structures, sport venues of note like the Eden Gardens, memorials, fountains, markets, malls, places of worship (temples, mosques, churches), bridges , clubs and other noteworthy places to visit.
