About Hyderabad- The city of Nawabs

Hyderabad, is the capital city of the new state of Telangana, India, that arose from the bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh on 2nd June,2014. It is India’s 29th state and lies on the banks of the Musi River. With a population of close to 8 million, it is among the ten most populated cities of India. Historically, the City came into existence in 1591 during the reign of Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, fifth sultan of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. Subsequently the Nizams ruled the state of Hyderabad from 1769 to 1948, In the Accession of States and merging with the Indian Union, Hyderabad State was formed. The re-organisation of States saw Telangana region merged with Andhra State then to form the Andhra Pradesh that got bifurcated as stated above, in 2014.

Hyderabad once known mainly for its pearl and diamond trading centres is today a modern city with the renowned Hi-tec City, a hub of international IT giants, many global and Indian pharmaceutical and biotechnical entities, a thriving Telugu film industry and with notable places of interest for tourists.

A thriving and vibrant city one gets to see the old and new in a well-blended mix. On the other side you have distinct modern day delights like Ramoji Film City (RFC) which is the world's largest integrated film studio cum theme park with an area covering 1666 acres, Ravindra Bharati – the stage for all performing arts, especially for those enhancing the state and Indian cultures. Shilparamam - Located opposite Cyber Towers, HITEC city, is an arts and crafts village which was conceived with an idea to create an environment for the preservation of traditional crafts such as sculpting wonders from stone, weaving in cotton, silk and gold thread, Dhaka muslin, Kondapalli toys, Bankura horses, gudda-guddis of Punjab, temple arts and a motley of Indian arts and crafts. Hyderabad Pearls – Hyderabad has always been referred to as the "city of pearls" even though it is far away from the sea. Some of the famous pearl shops in Hyderabad are: Mangatrai (Patthargatti and Basheerbagh), Kedarnathji Motiwale and Jagadamba (Charminar, Begumpet and M G Road ).
