FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Graphic and Expressive

Colorful Kalamkari

When come-alive imagery in vibrant colors and sharp detail appear on a saree, the mind immediately springs to think - it’s Kalamkari.

Ancient artistic tradition of Andhra Pradesh in India, two independent schools of thought gave life to scenes from the Ramayana & Mahabharata, popular folk tales, ancient temple murals and themes from Nature.

Drawing with crude bamboo sticks, making use of limited resources even today, these ethnic practitioners continually fuel the interest of an ever- expectant market. Hand block prints have been included as part of the Kalamkari art to give it a modern face.
