Varanasi, also known as Benaras, Banaras or Kashi, is on the banks of the holy river Ganges in Uttar Pradesh. Varanasi is considered one of the holiest cities in India and the world. Benaras is also known for its muslin and silk fabrics since centuries.
Be it a purchase or a gift from somebody, the Banarasi saree has been lovingly treasured, used sparingly on occasions and prized like a treasure by most saree-loving women. Pure Silk has been part of Indian tradition for exclusive wear since royal times, an observance carried on till this day. It is the devoted effort of the Banarasi silk saree weaver to weave pure gold and silver threads with precision and create masterpieces with the making of each and every saree. Time has not dimmed this art and the modern day weaver is as dedicated to his work as his forefathers were. No wonder the Indian masses have always considered it as something to possess during a lifetime.
