Fabric Care

What is a fabric?

A fabric is a flexible material formed as a result of networking of natural or synthetic fibers like thread or yarn formed by weaving or knitting. Basically in textile field, the term fabric is often used as a synonym for cloth. Care label is generally attached to the cloth firmly where it could be easily seen by the customer. An important but often neglected aspect of keeping a house clean is caring for the household fabrics. Commonly fabric care is not much contemplated until something is strained or damaged.

In that case, care label provides some useful instructions about taking care of the apparel like washing, drying and ironing. The care label is important because usually the customer does not know about all these specification as different types of fabrics have different instructions for cleaning. Next thing to look out for is the harmful effect of the strains on the fabric. One should follow some general instructions for removing common strains. There are many fabrics are invading into the market nowadays like Silk, Cotton, Polyester, Rayon, Wool and so on so forth...

First of all how to remove stains from a fabric?

Initially apply a good quality of stain remover to the strain. Then rub the strain with warm water before applying it with a good quality liquid detergent which is meant for that fabric and allow it to dry. Most of the stains can be removed by this process by using stain removers, softeners, Detergents and so on...And important thing is never use any soap to wash good quality fabric. The reason behind detergents becoming more popular compared to soaps is that they work efficiently with all levels of water hardness.

Second thing is, Washing of the fabric is most important thing in any sort of fabric care. There are some ways of washing and cleaning the fabric like dry cleaning wet cleaning and ironing. Dry cleaning involves the use of distilled solvents with absolutely no use of water or if required then minimum quantity of water should be used. Make sure to use a good quality solvent or else it could result in graying of white fabrics leaving a bad odor. Wet cleaning is opposite to dry cleaning that means it involves use of water and the use of computer machines, conditioners and sops in required amount of water.

Ultimately ironing takes part of fabric care because by washing a fabric it might get folding or some what looks like odd to wear in that case ironing place a crucial role for good appearance. But ironing process should be done based on the type of fabric because it is the matter of temperature. Like cotton fabric requires high temperature to compare with any other fabric, where as silk should be ironed with low temperature and woolen clothes needs moderate temperature.
