Assam is a north eastern state of India with its capital at dispur, located in the city of Guwahati. It is located in the eastern Himalayas. Assam is surrounded by six states. They are Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya. These states are connected to the rest of India with a narrow strip in west Bengal. Assam also shares international borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh. Assam is famous for assam tea. Assam became a part of India, after the british occupied the region. It is a popular destination for world life tourism. Assam is famous for Assam silk for its rich biodiversity. It is also known for its sal tree forests. It is also called land of high rainfall. It is also endowed with lush greenery. Assam has four well defined seasons in a year. Summer, winter & Spring which present assam in different moods. The best time to visit assam is October to April. As these months offer mild & moderate climate with pleasant & sunny days & cool nights. Assam is neither too hot nor too cold. It has always moderate temperature. After the independence in 1947, Assam witnessed separation of territories. Guwahati is one of the crowed capital as well as the gateway of assam state.


The climate of Assam is characterized by its extreme humidity. The most distinguishing feature of the climate of assam is the copious rainfall between march and may at a time.

Assam Zoo: Assam Zoo is a major open field zoo and it is large and well managed spot to see. It houses many animals like leapords, tigers. It is located 5 km south east site of the city centre.
Botanical Garden: It is situated 5km from the guwahati Railway Station.


The Kamakhya Temple in Assam is one of the most venerated Shakti shrines in India, and is regarded as one of the Shakti Peethams associated with the legend of Shiva and Daksha Yagna. Kamakhya is located on a hill - Neelachala Parvat or Kamagiri near the city of Guwahati in Assam. Shakti, residing on the Kamagiri hill is known as Kamakhya, the granter of desires. The temple has a beehive like shikhara. Some of the sculptured panels seen here are of interest. There are images of Ganesha, Chamundeswari, dancing fitures etc.
